Role Overview

Atlantic Union Bank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Salesforce Software Engineer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our dynamic team on a 12-month contract basis, with a high potential for conversion to a full-time permanent position. This is a fully remote opportunity designed for a professional who can bridge the gap between complex business strategies and technical Salesforce execution. As a Salesforce SME, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of Salesforce solutions, from initial design and configuration to complex integrations and final delivery. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Salesforce ecosystem and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions within the financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary Salesforce Subject Matter Expert, providing guidance on platform best practices and architectural decisions.
  • Translate intricate business requirements into robust technical specifications and scalable solution designs.
  • Design, develop, and implement Salesforce enhancements, including custom integrations, advanced automations, and sophisticated workflows.
  • Optimize existing Salesforce functionality to ensure high performance, data integrity, and a seamless user experience.
  • Lead collaborative design sessions and rapid prototyping to validate solutions with stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with internal IT teams, third-party vendors, and the Architecture Review Board to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including integration maps, workflow diagrams, and system architecture schemas.
  • Provide expert-level support during all testing phases, including Unit Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Oversee deployment processes and provide ongoing production support, including high-priority incident troubleshooting.
  • Actively participate in Change Control Board (CCB) activities to manage platform updates and releases effectively.

Technical Requirements and Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Salesforce development, administration, and architecture.
  • Proven expertise in Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Financial Services Cloud (FSC) is highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce integration patterns and tools, including REST/SOAP APIs and middleware solutions.
  • Expertise in Salesforce automation tools, including Flow, Apex, and Lightning Web Components (LWC).
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce security models, data sharing, and access management.
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development methodology and using DevOps tools for CI/CD.

Mandatory Domain Expertise

  • Extensive experience within the Banking or Financial Services industry is strictly required for this role.
  • Deep understanding of banking operations, financial products, and industry-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to model financial workflows and data structures within the Salesforce ecosystem to meet compliance standards.

Soft Skills and Professional Attributes

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on long-term scalability.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fully remote environment while maintaining high productivity.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in documentation and system design.

Contract and Submission Details

This is a long-term contract engagement with a duration of 12 months and a high possibility of conversion to a full-time role. Candidates must be available for a Monday morning submission deadline. Compensation & Location

Salary: $185,000 – $250,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Remote, VA
