Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Databricks Administrator to join our team. This role is crucial for administering, configuring, and supporting the Databricks platform, enabling scalable data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML workloads. The administrator will ensure platform reliability, security, cost optimization, and compliance while supporting data engineers, analysts, and data scientists across the organization.

The administrator will manage workspace configuration, cluster policies, user access, integrations with cloud services, and ongoing platform monitoring to support enterprise data and analytics initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and support the Databricks platform.
  • Ensure platform reliability, security, cost optimization, and compliance.
  • Manage Databricks workspace configuration, including cluster policies and user access.
  • Oversee integrations with cloud services (e.g., AWS S3).
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and availability.
  • Implement and enforce cluster policies and workspace governance standards.
  • Manage user access, roles, and permissions using IAM, SCIM, and RBAC.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Databricks platform performance and functionality.
  • Support data engineers, analysts, and data scientists in leveraging the Databricks platform.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure data security, encryption, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Implement cost management and optimization strategies for Databricks workloads.
  • Support AI/ML workloads using Databricks ML and MLflow.

Candidate Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in system administration, with a strong focus on data platforms.
  • Proven experience administering Databricks workspaces in a cloud environment (AWS preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Databricks cluster configuration, job scheduling, and workspace management.
  • Experience managing user access, roles, and permissions using IAM, SCIM, and role-based access control (RBAC).
  • Proficiency with Apache Spark concepts, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Experience integrating Databricks with cloud storage services (e.g., S3).
  • Experience implementing and enforcing cluster policies and workspace governance standards.
  • Familiarity with Databricks SQL, notebooks, and job orchestration.
  • Experience monitoring platform health, performance, and availability.
  • Understanding of data security, encryption, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with DevOps or automation tools (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, scripting).
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, or Scala for administration and troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience administering Databricks in an enterprise or government environment.
  • Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog for data governance and access control.
  • Knowledge of cost management and optimization for Databricks workloads.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML workloads using Databricks ML and MLflow.
  • Familiarity with data lake and lakehouse architectures.

Additional Information

  • This is an ONSITE/Hybrid position located in Austin, TX 78751.
  • Some hybrid work will be determined by the hiring manager.
  • The program will only accept LOCAL ONLY candidates for this position.
  • Duration: 05/04/2026 – 08/31/2026.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $100,000 – $150,000 per year (Estimated)
