Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Jira Engineer with a strong background in both administration and development to join our team in Austin, TX. This is an urgent, onsite contract role for approximately 6 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering, configuring, and supporting our highly complex and customized Jira environments. This role requires significant hands-on experience in scripting, development, Jira Automation, and large-scale migration activities, going beyond standard Jira administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, and support Jira environments for business and technical teams.
- Manage and optimize complex, heavily customized Jira instances.
- Implement and manage Jira automation using tools like Automation for Jira or Script Runner.
- Develop and maintain scripts (Groovy, JavaScript, Python) to enhance Jira functionality.
- Support large-scale Jira migration activities.
- Provide user support and ensure smooth operations of the Jira platform.
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to understand requirements and map them into Jira workflows.
- Ensure seamless integration with Confluence and other relevant tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Jira configuration, performance, and user access.
Technical Skills:
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Jira administration.
- Strong understanding of Jira workflows, schemes, permission management, and configurations.
- Proven experience in Jira automation (e.g., Automation for Jira, Script Runner).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Groovy, JavaScript, or Python is highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of Confluence integration is preferred.
- Experience with large-scale Jira migrations is a significant plus.
Organizational & Functional Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into effective Jira configurations and workflows.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
