Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power BI Developer for a contract position with the State of TX HHSC. This role is crucial for the SCOR EI initiative, focusing on enhancing the SCOR Java applications. The developer will be responsible for making significant updates, including modifications to business logic, user interface improvements, and extending reporting capabilities through Power BI and the system data model. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days remote and 2 days onsite at the specified Austin, TX location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop software solutions by analyzing information needs, consulting with users, and studying system flows, data usage, and work processes.
- Investigate and resolve problem areas within the applications.
- Prepare and implement solutions by defining system specifications, standards, and programming requirements.
- Make updates to SCOR Java applications, including changes to business logic and user interface.
- Extend reporting capabilities to Power BI and enhance the system data model.
- Support application enhancements and correct defects in maintenance mode.
- Maintain applications across multiple environments, including coding, testing, peer reviews, documentation, defect root cause analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure code coverage, testing, and security policies and procedures are followed.
- Provide on-call support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by unit operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in software development.
- Proven experience with Power BI development.
- Proficiency in writing SQL for relational databases.
- Experience with RESTful web services on the Spring platform.
- Experience with JUnit and Unit Test development.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex tasks, with a high degree of creativity and latitude.
- Experience in planning and accomplishing goals, and potentially leading the work of others.
Preferred Skills:
- 4+ years of experience with Angular UI Framework.
- 4+ years of experience with Crystal Reports.
