About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Smalltalk Developer with strong object-oriented programming expertise and hands-on experience working with legacy systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing existing systems, supporting migration efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless functionality and performance.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in Smalltalk programming
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts
- Experience working with SDLC methodologies
- Strong communication skills for independent client interaction
- Good knowledge of SQL and PL SQL
- Experience with version control tools like GitHub
- Basic understanding of UNIX systems
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain applications using Smalltalk technology
- Translate business requirements into technical designs using MVC design pattern
- Analyze existing Smalltalk legacy systems and document functionality based on class hierarchy and methods
- Support application migration initiatives by providing functional and technical expertise
- Compare Smalltalk code with Java code post migration to ensure functionality alignment
- Provide technical guidance and contribute to solution design
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and enhance system performance
- Maintain a customer-focused approach with strong interpersonal communication
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with Java
- Knowledge of Insurance domain
- Familiarity with PL SQL and UNIX environments
Special Requirements
Hybrid 3-4 days in office, OR – Preferred
Compensation & Location
Salary: $60 – $85 per hour (Estimated)
Location: Whitehouse Station, NJ
