Position Summary

Square Hiring LLC is currently seeking a Senior SAP RAR (Revenue Accounting and Reporting) Specialist for a strategic contract opportunity with a premier client in Austin, TX. This role is essential for driving the design and implementation of revenue recognition solutions within an S/4 HANA environment. The successful candidate will bring at least 6 years of hands-on experience in SAP, with a specific focus on RAR integration and compliance with IFRS 15/16 standards. This is a full-time onsite position (5 days per week) in Austin, Texas, offering the chance to work on high-visibility projects in the high-tech and software industry sectors. As the regulatory landscape for revenue recognition continues to evolve, this role provides a unique opportunity to lead compliance efforts and optimize financial reporting processes for a global enterprise.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP RAR modules to meet complex and evolving business requirements.
  • Manage the seamless integration of RAR with other critical SAP modules, including FI (Financial Accounting), SD (Sales and Distribution), and BRIM (Billing and Revenue Innovation Management).
  • Execute full life cycle implementations, encompassing requirement gathering, blueprinting, configuration, unit testing, integration testing, and post-go-live support.
  • Oversee complex RAR migration projects, ensuring data integrity, historical accuracy, and continuity of financial reporting during system transitions.
  • Configure and maintain Business Rule Framework (BRFplus) to automate revenue recognition processes and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, sales, and IT, to align industry best practices with detailed functional designs.
  • Provide expert guidance on Order-to-Cash (OTC) processes and their direct impact on revenue recognition and financial statements.
  • Develop and present management-level proposals, functional specifications, and project status updates to executive stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with internal controls and external audits.

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of professional SAP experience, with at least 3 years dedicated specifically to SAP RAR.
  • Deep understanding of IFRS 15/16, COPA, and general accounting principles as they relate to revenue recognition.
  • Proven experience with S/4 HANA and BRIM processes in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SD/FICO module integration and the flow of data through the SAP ecosystem.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Education and Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or an equivalent professional certification is highly preferred and will be given priority.
  • Prior experience in the high-tech or software industry is a significant advantage, particularly with subscription-based or multi-element arrangement revenue models.
  • A track record of leadership in delivering complex SAP solutions and driving process improvements in financial systems.
