Position Overview: Computer Vision Scientist for IBM Projects
RandomTrees is seeking a highly specialized Computer Vision Scientist to join our AI/ML team supporting a major engagement with IBM. This role is critical for developing next-generation artificial intelligence solutions that leverage computer vision and machine learning to solve complex industrial and enterprise problems. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of research and production, implementing state-of-the-art algorithms and ensuring they are deployable at scale through robust MLOps practices. This position is based in Texas, with primary locations in Houston or Corpus Christi, offering a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects within the IBM ecosystem.
Core Responsibilities and AI Development
- Develop and implement advanced computer vision algorithms for object detection, image segmentation, and pattern recognition.
- Design and train deep learning models using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
- Collaborate with IBM stakeholders to define project requirements and translate business needs into technical AI specifications.
- Build and maintain MLOps pipelines to automate the training, testing, and deployment of machine learning models.
- Optimize model performance for real-time processing and edge computing environments.
- Conduct rigorous data analysis and preprocessing to ensure high-quality training sets for computer vision tasks.
- Stay current with the latest research in AI/ML and computer vision, applying relevant breakthroughs to project challenges.
- Document technical architectures, experimental results, and deployment procedures for cross-team knowledge sharing.
Technical Requirements and Qualifications
- Strong academic background in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field with a focus on Artificial Intelligence.
- Proven expertise in AI/ML and Computer Vision, including experience with OpenCV and specialized vision libraries.
- Hands-on experience with MLOps tools and methodologies for managing the machine learning lifecycle.
- Proficiency in Python and common data science libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn).
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and cloud-based AI platforms (e.g., IBM Watson, AWS SageMaker, or Azure ML).
- Understanding of neural network architectures such as CNNs, Transformers, and GANs.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment, interfacing with both technical teams and business clients.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to iterate quickly on experimental models.
