Position Summary: Senior Release Manager
We are looking for a seasoned Release Manager with a strong DevOps background to oversee and coordinate production releases for two major US-based squads. This role is a hybrid position, requiring at least two days per week in person at our offices in either Wilmington, DE, or Whippany, NJ. The modern software delivery lifecycle demands a leader who can bridge the gap between development, quality assurance, and operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the integrity of our production environments, managing the flow of Data/ETL and JAVA/API code artifacts through the pipeline. You will act as the primary gatekeeper for production, ensuring that every release is stable, documented, and compliant with our rigorous internal standards and SLAs.
Core Responsibilities and DevOps Integration
- Coordinate production release tasks for multiple cross-functional squads, ensuring all dependencies are identified and managed.
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Lead Engineers, and Quality Assurance teams to synchronize delivery schedules and mitigate deployment risks.
- Manage and maintain critical software artifacts, including implementation plans, peer review checklists, and deployment manifests.
- Drive efficiency in the release process by identifying bottlenecks and implementing automation where possible, particularly within ETL and API pipelines.
- Utilize JIRA and ServiceNow to track release progress, manage change requests, and ensure all audit requirements are met.
- Support the setup and optimization of Build & Deployment pipelines using Java or Python, acting as a secondary DevOps resource when needed.
- Lead ‘Run the Bank’ (RTB) and operations handoff meetings to ensure support teams are fully prepared for new production features.
Candidate Profile and Technical Requirements
The successful candidate will bring approximately 10 years of professional experience in software delivery, with a significant portion of that time spent in Release Management or DevOps roles. We are specifically looking for individuals who understand the complexities of Data/ETL and API-driven architectures. You should be proficient in navigating enterprise-grade tools like JIRA and ServiceNow, and possess the technical depth to understand (and potentially contribute to) Python or Java-based CI/CD pipelines. Communication is paramount in this role; you must be able to command a room during high-pressure release windows and clearly articulate technical risks to non-technical stakeholders. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys the challenge of orchestrating complex deployments in a hybrid work environment. If you have a track record of improving release reliability and speed in a large-scale enterprise setting, we want to hear from you.
