Position Summary
We are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Cisco Security Engineer to join our IT Security team. This role is pivotal in designing and maintaining a secure network infrastructure using the latest Cisco technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with traditional Cisco security solutions as well as emerging cloud-native technologies like Cisco Cilium. This is a remote opportunity for a 6-month contract engagement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage comprehensive Cisco security solutions, including ASA and Firepower firewalls.
- Configure and maintain secure VPN connections and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS).
- Leverage Cisco Cilium to provide secure, scalable networking and deep observability within cloud-native and Kubernetes environments.
- Monitor network security infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime, high availability, and peak performance.
- Conduct regular security assessments, lead incident response efforts, and perform necessary remediation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enforce security best practices and policies across both traditional and containerized environments.
- Stay current with the evolving threat landscape, Cisco product updates, and trends in cloud-native security.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, security procedures, and incident reports.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Proven professional experience with Cisco security technologies such as ASA, Firepower, ISE, Umbrella, and AnyConnect.
- Direct, hands-on experience with Cisco Cilium, including implementation within Kubernetes or hybrid cloud architectures.
- Deep understanding of network protocols, firewall policy management, and complex VPN configurations.
- Familiarity with SIEM tools, security monitoring platforms, and standard incident response protocols.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- Cisco professional-level certifications such as CCNP Security or CCIE Security are highly desirable.
- Experience with modern cloud-native security trends and zero-trust architecture.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a remote, teamwork-oriented environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying potential security vulnerabilities.

This project is focused on modernizing security for cloud-native applications. By integrating Cisco Cilium, we aim to enhance our observability and security posture in a highly dynamic environment. The engineer will play a key role in bridging the gap between traditional network security and modern DevOps practices.
Special Requirements

Compensation & Location
Salary: $130,000 – $180,000 per year (Estimated)
