- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest data from diverse sources such as on-premises SQL Servers, REST APIs, and flat files into Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Collaborate closely with data architects and business analysts to translate complex criminal justice requirements into efficient technical data models, ensuring data integrity and performance.
- Utilize Azure Functions for serverless data processing and event-driven workflows to enhance pipeline flexibility.
- Develop and optimize data transformation scripts using Python and Databricks to handle large-scale datasets and complex business logic.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to automate the deployment of data infrastructure and code, ensuring a robust and repeatable release process.
- Monitor ETL job performance, identify system bottlenecks, and implement proactive tuning strategies to maintain high availability and low latency.
- Ensure strict adherence to data security protocols and compliance standards relevant to sensitive criminal justice information (CJIS compliance).
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, providing technical insights during sprint planning and contributing to the continuous improvement of our development lifecycle.
Technical Environment and Requirements
The successful candidate will operate within a cutting-edge Azure environment. You will be expected to leverage the full power of Azure Synapse for data warehousing and Azure Data Lake for unstructured data storage. Proficiency in SQL is mandatory for database management and complex query optimization. We are looking for a professional who understands the nuances of data modeling (Star and Snowflake schemas) and can apply these principles to real-world scenarios. Experience with Databricks is highly preferred for advanced analytics and data engineering tasks. This role is specifically for local candidates in the Atlanta area, as it requires onsite collaboration 1-2 times per month to facilitate team alignment and stakeholder engagement.
