Role Overview
The Lead AWS Agentic AI Platform Engineer is a pivotal role designed for a technical visionary capable of steering the configuration and enablement of a sophisticated Agentic AI platform. Built upon the robust foundation of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, this platform represents the cutting edge of enterprise artificial intelligence. As the onsite technical authority, you will be responsible for the governance, design oversight, and seamless use-case enablement that allows the organization to deploy AI agents at scale. This position is not merely about implementation; it is about creating a secure, repeatable, and highly efficient ecosystem using Terraform-driven infrastructure patterns to support a multitude of enterprise-level AI applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Strategy & Enablement: Own the comprehensive strategy for onboarding new agentic AI use cases onto the AgentCore platform, ensuring that each deployment aligns with broader business objectives and technical standards.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Define and maintain high-level Terraform standards, developing reusable modules and environment blueprints that streamline the deployment of AgentCore workloads across various business units.
- Architectural Guidance: Provide expert-level guidance on the AgentCore lifecycle, including tool invocation, routing strategies, and the selection of optimal runtimes such as AWS Lambda or Amazon EKS based on specific workload requirements.
- Technical Leadership: Act as the primary bridge between high-level client stakeholders and offshore engineering teams, reviewing and approving all Terraform code and platform modifications to ensure technical excellence.
- Security & Governance: Ensure that all AI platform extensions and agent configurations strictly adhere to enterprise security protocols, cost controls, and regulatory governance frameworks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with client architects, security specialists, and dedicated AI engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into policy-driven technical configurations.
Technical Requirements
- Cloud Expertise: A minimum of 8-12 years of professional experience in cloud and platform engineering, with a heavy emphasis on the AWS ecosystem.
- Terraform Mastery: Deep, hands-on expertise in Terraform for managing complex AWS infrastructure, specifically for AI and machine learning workloads.
- AWS AI Services: Strong, demonstrable experience with Amazon Bedrock and AgentCore, including the integration of these services into enterprise workflows.
- Core AWS Services: Proficiency in IAM, VPC design, security architecture, AWS Lambda, Amazon EKS, and AWS Step Functions.
- AI Architectures: Proven experience in designing shared platforms that support diverse AI use cases, including exposure to Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
Professional Attributes
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders. You must be a decisive leader who can maintain design authority while fostering a collaborative environment. Experience in regulated environments (such as Finance or Healthcare) is highly desirable, as is a forward-thinking approach to the evolving landscape of Generative AI and autonomous agents. This role requires a proactive individual who can anticipate platform needs and implement scalable solutions before bottlenecks occur.
