Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SAP SD EDI Specialist to lead the build, configuration, and testing phases of SAP SD EDI integrations. This role is specifically focused on the execution and delivery of integrations for over 30 trading partners. Unlike architectural or management roles, this is a ‘doer’ position requiring deep hands-on expertise in SAP S4HANA SD and EDI protocols. You will be the primary owner for SD-side EDI delivery, ensuring that all inbound and outbound transactions are processed accurately using IDocs and modern API-based interfaces. This project involves significant collaboration with SPS Commerce and SAP BTP teams to modernize vendor onboarding and sales order automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain SAP SD EDI settings, including IDoc processing, message control, and partner profiles.
- Manage EDI message types 850 (Purchase Order), 855 (PO Acknowledgement), 856 (Advance Ship Notice), and 810 (Invoice).
- Collaborate with SPS Commerce contacts to define mapping specifications and execute rigorous testing cycles.
- Work with the Logistics Team to implement carrier-based EDI and trading partner onboarding.
- Partner with the SAP BTP integration team to map vendor canonical formats to SAP SD transactions via BTP APIs (CPI/Integration Suite).
- Execute unit, integration, and partner testing for each EDI customer, ensuring seamless Order-to-Cash (OTC) flows.
- Troubleshoot complex SD, IDoc, and interface errors independently, providing root cause analysis and resolution.
- Support cutover planning and post-go-live validation to ensure system stability during the transition.
Technical Requirements
The ideal candidate must be a practitioner of SAP S4HANA SD with a solid understanding of Order-to-Cash processes, including Delivery, PGI, and Billing. Deep experience with SPS Commerce or similar EDI providers is essential. You should have a working knowledge of API-based integrations and canonical data models. A unique aspect of this role is the use of GPT-based or AI-assisted tools for vendor onboarding and sales order creation automation; experience or interest in these modern enablement technologies is highly preferred. You must be comfortable working independently to drive configuration and issue resolution while coordinating with offshore testers to maintain a ‘follow-the-sun’ testing model.

This position requires a professional who thrives in a fast-paced, execution-oriented environment. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of EDI flows, from initial mapping to final cutover. Strong communication skills are required to provide status updates to team leads and to coordinate effectively with external vendors. The ability to manage parallel testing and dual processing during transition phases is critical for a successful go-live.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $150,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
