Position Summary
Vizon Inc is looking for an elite Java Performance Engineer to support high-scale backend services for a premier client in Austin, Texas. This role is specifically tailored for individuals who have previously worked at Apple, as the technical standards and cultural alignment with high-performance, zero-downtime systems are paramount. The role follows a hybrid model, requiring onsite presence in Austin three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). This is a long-term contract opportunity starting with a 6-month duration with a high likelihood of extension beyond 12 months.
Core Technical Stack
The ideal candidate will be a master of the Java ecosystem, specifically focusing on SpringBoot and Microservices architecture. Performance is the primary metric for success in this role; therefore, deep expertise in JVM tuning, memory profiling, and heap analysis is non-negotiable. You will work extensively with distributed systems involving Redis, MongoDB, and Kafka. On the infrastructure side, you will manage deployments within AWS using EKS, S3, and Kubernetes. A unique requirement for this role is the hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools such as RooCode and Claude to accelerate development and optimization cycles.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-performance backend services with a focus on scalability and zero-downtime.
- Conduct rigorous performance testing and tuning using tools like JUnit, TestNG, and Splunk for monitoring.
- Manage full lifecycle ownership from initial design through to deployment and maintenance.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure using Docker, Helm Charts, and Nginx load balancing.
- Implement and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Maven, and Git/GitHub.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security best practices and system reliability.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Must be an EX-APPLE candidate (previous employment at Apple is a strict requirement).
- Must be local to Austin, TX or willing to work onsite 3 days per week.
- An active and professional LinkedIn profile is required for vetting.
- 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
- 3+ years of experience with MongoDB.
- Extensive experience with AWS, EKS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Proven expertise in SpringBoot, Redis, and Kafka.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools like RooCode and Claude.
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
