Role Overview: Senior DataStage Developer
We are seeking a highly specialized and seasoned DataStage Developer to join our enterprise data team in Columbus, Ohio. This critical role focuses on the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance ETL pipelines using IBM DataStage Version 11.7. The primary objective is to support the Finance and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) departments during a complex and high-priority Loan Origination System (LOS) migration. As we move into 2026, the demand for seamless data integration between legacy systems and modern cloud platforms like Snowflake has never been higher. Core Responsibilities and Technical Duties
- Architect and develop end-to-end DataStage jobs that extract data from Encompass and various legacy financial systems, transforming it to meet modern EDW standards.
- Implement sophisticated data quality controls and automated reconciliation processes to ensure financial data consistency across all platforms.
- Optimize batch processing performance to handle massive datasets, ensuring that ETL windows are met and system reliability is maintained at 99.9%.
- Collaborate with Data Architects to design scalable data models that support long-term business intelligence and reporting needs.
- Manage the integration of DataStage with Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse, utilizing best practices for cloud data loading and storage optimization.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex production issues, providing root cause analysis and implementing permanent fixes to prevent recurrence.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance on DataStage best practices, particularly regarding parallel job design and performance tuning.
Detailed Requirements and Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience dedicated to IBM DataStage development, with specific expertise in Version 11.7.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write complex queries, stored procedures, and performance-tuned scripts.
- Proven experience within the Financial Services sector, specifically dealing with ETL for mortgage, banking, or loan origination data.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse, including knowledge of Snowpipe and bulk loading techniques.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including Star and Snowflake schemas, and Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to map complex source-to-target requirements across disparate systems.
- Effective communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in the Finance department.
