Role Overview: PeopleSoft Consultant (Hybrid)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PeopleSoft Consultant for a critical 6-month engagement based in Columbus, OH. This hybrid role requires a deep technical understanding of PeopleSoft architecture and PeopleTools administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing PeopleSoft environments to meet evolving business needs. Key Technical Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive installations of PeopleSoft application versions 9.x and PeopleTools 8.5x.
  • Implement robust change management processes using PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) and Change Assistant.
  • Handle the application of bundles, patches, and maintenance packs to ensure system stability and security.
  • Lead PeopleSoft upgrade projects, encompassing both PeopleTools and application-level upgrades.
  • Configure PeopleSoft Change Assistant and manage templates required for seamless transitions.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of North American Payroll tax updates and compliance requirements.
  • Manage Integration Broker (IB) setup, configuration, and complex troubleshooting of IB failures.
  • Maintain Oracle environments, including monitoring, backup and recovery, and job scheduling.
  • Troubleshoot server and environmental infrastructure issues to minimize downtime.
  • Develop technical architecture solutions based on functional specifications and business requirements.
  • Execute environment refreshes, cloning, and migrations (Application, DB Script, SQR).
  • Monitor Oracle WebLogic and resolve related performance or connectivity issues.
  • Automate routine maintenance tasks using advanced scripting techniques.

Professional Requirements and Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to work as a collaborative team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Experience with Autosys and writing JIL scripts is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Fluid technology is a significant plus for modernizing user interfaces.

Detailed Environment Management

The PeopleSoft Consultant will be tasked with the end-to-end lifecycle management of the PeopleSoft ecosystem. This includes the initial hardware sizing and solution architecture design, ensuring that the infrastructure can support the projected load and performance requirements. You will work closely with database administrators and network engineers to align the PeopleSoft environment with organizational security standards. The role involves meticulous documentation of all configuration changes and upgrade paths to maintain a clear audit trail. Furthermore, you will be expected to provide mentorship to junior staff and contribute to the continuous improvement of internal DevOps practices related to PeopleSoft deployments. By leveraging your expertise in PL/SQL and shell scripting, you will create automated health checks and alerting mechanisms that proactively identify potential bottlenecks before they impact the business operations. This role demands a high level of initiative and the flexibility to meet tight deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $145,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
