Overview of the AI Engineer with Java (Full Stack) Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative AI Engineer with strong full-stack Java capabilities to join our dynamic team. This hybrid role, based in Columbus, Ohio, or Plano, Texas, requires a professional with 12+ years of experience who can seamlessly integrate artificial intelligence concepts with robust enterprise-level Java applications. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge AI-driven solutions, leveraging their expertise in modern Java frameworks, cloud platforms, and advanced AI/ML techniques.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Expertise

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide array of tasks, focusing on both front-end and back-end development, cloud infrastructure, and AI integration. A deep understanding of the entire software development lifecycle is crucial, from conceptualization to deployment and maintenance. This role demands a proactive individual capable of working independently and collaboratively within an agile environment.

  • Full Stack Java Development: Proficiency in Java versions 17, 21, and 25, coupled with extensive experience in the Spring framework, including Spring Boot and Spring Batch. The ability to develop scalable and high-performance microservices is essential.
  • Front-End Technologies: Hands-on experience with modern front-end frameworks such as NodeJS and React JS to build intuitive and responsive user interfaces that interact with AI-powered backends.
  • Cloud Computing with AWS: Demonstrable expertise in a wide range of AWS services, including ECS for container orchestration, Aurora PostgreSQL for robust database solutions, S3 for object storage, Glue for data integration, Athena for query analysis, VPC for network isolation, IAM for access management, and various networking components like ALB and NLB. Experience with SQS and EventBridge for asynchronous communication is also required.
  • AI and Prompt Engineering: A strong background in Artificial Intelligence principles, with practical experience in Prompt Engineering for interacting with Large Language Models (LLMs). Familiarity with agentic AI systems and tools like GitHub Copilot for code generation is a must.
  • Data Streaming and Messaging: Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Kafka for building real-time data pipelines and event-driven architectures.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure in an automated and repeatable manner.
  • DevOps and CI/CD: Proficiency in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, ensuring continuous integration and continuous deployment practices are followed.
  • Testing Frameworks: Comprehensive knowledge and application of various testing methodologies and tools, including Cucumber for BDD, Top Hat for component testing, BlazeMeter/JMeter for performance testing, JUnit & Mockito for unit and integration testing, Gremlin for resiliency testing, and PACT framework for contract testing.
  • Job Scheduling and File Transfer: Experience with Control-M for job scheduling and MFTS routes setup for secure file transfers.
