Job Summary:

The QA/Test Manager 2 is responsible for leading and managing quality assurance and testing activities for TDLR modernization projects. This role involves overseeing testing processes throughout the software development life cycle, coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and business stakeholders, and ensuring that all testing activities meet project requirements and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced managerial tasks related to quality assurance and software testing.
  • Manage and support testing activities across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve reported software issues and troubleshoot system problems for internal and external clients.
  • Define and review the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategy for TDLR modernization projects and guide the team during Soft UAT activities.
  • Coordinate sprint review feedback with vendor staff and business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Review test cases provided by vendors, collaborate with SMEs, and recommend necessary improvements.
  • Work with business users and SMEs to create, update, and execute test cases and provide detailed testing results and reports including defects and issues.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the IT division, business users, and vendors.
  • Lead defect triage sessions and manage the tracking, prioritization, and resolution of defects.
  • Analyze defect trends, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend process improvements.
  • Provide weekly updates on UAT progress, testing results, and defect status.
  • Monitor requirement traceability and ensure proper test coverage.
  • Ensure all UAT exit criteria are met and obtain final business sign-off.
  • Provide regular testing-related status updates to the project team and stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience overseeing various testing types including user acceptance, performance, accessibility, interface, security, and data conversion testing.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience managing, performing, monitoring, and reporting on testing activities for modern technology platforms.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience creating, reviewing, and updating test strategies, test suites, and test cases.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience documenting and reporting test results, data conversion and integration issues, and defect or incident reports.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience training and mentoring testing team members.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience coordinating testing staff schedules, test activities, and meetings.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience using testing tools such as Jira, TestSavvy, JUnit, Selenium, Microfocus UFT, SQL, or similar tools.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working across the full Software Development Life Cycle with a strong focus on testing practices.
  • Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Required Experience:

  • At least 4 years of experience using performance monitoring tools such as JProfiler, JMeter, or similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Salesforce platforms.
  • Experience working directly with a Texas state agency as a QA Test Manager (as an employee or contractor).
  • Experience serving as a team leader or project manager.

Special Requirements

Onsite, Locals only, No relocation, TDLR modernization projects, Agile and Waterfall methodologies, Experience with Jira, TestSavvy, JUnit, Selenium, Microfocus UFT, SQL, JProfiler, JMeter. Preferred: Salesforce experience, Texas state agency experience, Team lead or project manager experience.


Compensation & Location

Salary: $100,000 – $140,000 per year

Location: Austin, TX
