Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) Specialist for a critical contract position based in Parsippany, NJ. This role operates on a hybrid model, requiring the candidate to be onsite at least 2-3 days per week. The specialist will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of Master Data Management (MDM) solutions using the SAP MDG platform. This is a high-impact role aimed at ensuring data integrity, consistency, and governance across the enterprise, specifically focusing on the Business Partner and Finance domains. You will be at the forefront of our data transformation journey, helping to build a robust foundation for our S/4HANA environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Solution Design & Development: Architect and develop comprehensive MDM solutions using SAP MDG. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle, from requirement gathering to final deployment.
- Configuration & Customization: Configure essential MDG components, including data models, governance workflows, validations, and complex business rules. You will tailor the platform to meet specific organizational needs.
- Data Stewardship & Quality: Implement advanced match and merge rules, survivorship logic, and hierarchy management. You will establish data stewardship processes to maintain a ‘single version of truth’ for all master data.
- System Integration: Facilitate the seamless integration of SAP MDG with SAP ERP, S/4HANA, and various external systems. You will utilize SAP BODS, ETL tools, APIs, and messaging platforms to ensure data flow.
- BTP & Cloud Innovation: Leverage SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) services for integration, data management, and application development. You will also explore integrations with cloud data platforms like AWS, Snowflake, and Databricks.
Technical Environment & Governance
The SAP MDG Specialist will work within a modern and evolving SAP landscape. You will collaborate closely with data architects and business analysts to define and manage master data domains, ensuring that all solutions comply with global data governance, quality, and lineage standards. Your role will also involve providing high-level production support and delivering continuous enhancements to existing MDG solutions. You will be expected to maintain rigorous technical documentation, including test cases and deployment artifacts, to ensure the long-term sustainability of the MDM ecosystem.
Professional Collaboration
This role requires a professional who can bridge the gap between technical requirements and business objectives. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that data governance frameworks are not only technically sound but also practically applicable to daily operations. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders will be vital. You will participate in design reviews, provide expert advice on SAP best practices, and contribute to the overall data strategy of the organization.
Qualifications & Skills
- Extensive hands-on experience with SAP MDG and broader Master Data Management platforms.
- Proven expertise in SAP BTP, SAP ERP/S4HANA, and various integration tools (BODS, APIs).
- Solid understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality metrics, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Experience with modern cloud data platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks is considered a significant advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively in hybrid team environments.
Special Requirements
Hybrid requirement: 2-3 days onsite in Parsippany, NJ. Contract position.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $190,000 per year
