Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator with specialized expertise in Oracle GoldenGate to join our enterprise shared services organization. This is a high-impact, remote role focused on supporting mission-critical database platforms across a diverse infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical background in Oracle internals, Exadata management, and complex data replication strategies. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our database environments while leading critical migration efforts to the AWS cloud.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level administration for Oracle Database environments, with a primary focus on Exadata and ZFS storage infrastructure.
- Design, implement, and maintain Oracle GoldenGate replication solutions across various platforms, including Oracle to Oracle, S3, and Aurora databases.
- Perform advanced performance tuning and optimization of Oracle RAC environments to meet stringent Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Lead database migration projects, specifically moving on-premises Oracle workloads to AWS RDS and Aurora instances.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated automation scripts using Shell, Python, or PL/SQL to streamline database provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.
- Configure and manage Exadata Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC) to optimize storage efficiency and query execution times.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, including those involving GoldenGate replication on SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL source systems.
- Collaborate with senior architects to design resilient, high-availability database architectures that support global business operations.
- Implement and enforce rigorous security standards and patching schedules to protect sensitive enterprise data.
- Provide mentorship to junior DBAs and contribute to the development of best practices within the shared services team.
Technical Requirements
The successful candidate must have at least 8 years of hands-on experience administering Oracle databases in large-scale enterprise settings. A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically with Oracle GoldenGate is required, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning. You must demonstrate proficiency in managing Oracle RAC, Exadata, and Oracle Database Appliance (ODA). Experience with AWS cloud technologies, particularly RDS and Aurora, is essential for our ongoing cloud transformation initiatives. Strong scripting skills for operational support and automation are a must.
Working Environment
This is a fully remote position that requires a self-motivated professional capable of delivering high-quality results with minimal supervision. You will work within a collaborative, fast-paced environment where technical excellence is valued. The role involves a mix of hands-on technical work (80%) and strategic planning/collaboration (20%). This is a 6-month contract with a high probability of extension based on performance and project needs.
Special Requirements
Remote; 6+ Months duration; Experience with Exadata and Golden Gate required; Cross-platform replication experience (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) preferred.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
