Position Summary: Java Big Data Engineer
Sira Consulting Inc. is looking for a seasoned Java Big Data Engineer to join our team onsite in Phoenix, Arizona. This role is designed for a technologist who thrives in a fast-paced, startup-minded environment and possesses a deep curiosity for solving complex data challenges. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of software solutions, from initial inception through to production deployment, working on both greenfield and brownfield projects that shape our core platform.
Core Technical Responsibilities
The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in the Hadoop ecosystem to build scalable data processing applications. Your daily activities will involve heavy use of Apache Spark and Java-based microservices. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing high-performance data pipelines using Spark (3+ years experience required).
- Developing backend services with Spring Boot and integrating with NoSQL databases like Cassandra.
- Applying statistical skills, including regression analysis and statistical testing, to validate data models.
- Independently managing the testing and deployment of software updates.
- Troubleshooting complex distributed systems and optimizing performance.
- Mentoring junior team members and contributing to the architectural evolution of the platform.
Professional Requirements
We are seeking candidates with 6 to 9 years of professional experience in software engineering. A strong foundation in Java and Big Data technologies is essential. Beyond technical skills, we value adaptability, flexibility, and innovative thinking. You should be comfortable working in a collaborative peer group where you both learn from others and contribute your own earned acumen to guide the team’s direction. Excellent communication skills are required to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Salary: $140,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
