Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced IT Software Engineer 4 SDET to join a team in Chicago, IL. This role requires a strong background in test automation, particularly with Java/JavaScript, and experience in developing and maintaining robust testing frameworks. The position is hybrid, with an expectation of a full return to the office (5 days/week) in the future. Candidates must be local to the Chicagoland area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Extend testing automation framework using JAVA/JAVA Script.
- Take ownership in understanding business requirements/ACs and develop test strategy/test plan.
- Develop automation test cases using the existing automation framework.
- Develop test automation code for Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) of systems, infrastructure, and test framework.
- Plan, design, develop, and maintain API test automation framework that facilitates automation scripting, execution, and analysis of results.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring for test engineers on multiple applications/projects onshore and offshore.
- Train and mentor project team members to create, execute, analyze, and maintain automated regression suites.
- Coordinate with product owners to resolve open issues/enhancements/upgrades and understand the use of specific functionality.
- Develop automated functional scripts using tools such as Java, Karate, JMeter.
- Perform exploratory and manual testing of the product suite as appropriate.
- Provide expertise in testing methodologies, best practices, and standards.
- Perform end-to-end system integration testing for software platforms.
Required Technical Skills:
- Java (3-5 years): Strong design and development skills.
- Cucumber (3-5 years): Or other BDD testing frameworks.
- Test Automation Framework Design: At least 8 years of experience.
- Webservices (REST APIs) Testing: Strong experience (3-5 years).
- Test Script, Test Case, and Test Data Development: Proven experience.
- SQL or other relational databases: Ability to write queries.
- Performance Testing: 3+ years of experience developing scenario-based performance testing using JMeter.
- Full Stack and Integration Testing: Experience with 3rd parties.
Desired Technical Skills:
- Python development experience.
- AWS Cloud technology development experience.
- Experience in TDD, continuous integration, code review practices.
- Experience with Apigee or other API gateways.
- Experience with DevOps concepts and tools (e.g., CI/CD, Jenkins, Git).
- Agile team experience (at least 2 years) with a solid understanding of Agile/Lean practices.
- Understanding of a microservice architecture.
- Load and performance testing experience.
- Strong documentation skills.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to adapt quickly to a complex environment.
- Pro-active, flexible, and creative.
- Very strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with developers and business users.
Work Environment:
The role is hybrid, requiring candidates to be onsite at the Chicago Office (540 W Madison Street, Chicago, IL 60661) 3-5 days a week initially. A full return to the office (5 days/week) is expected in the future. Candidates must be local to the Chicagoland area and surrounding suburbs.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience.
Special Requirements
Need IL locals. Final round is F2F. Must be local to Chicagoland area. Full return to office (5 days in office) will eventually happen. No 100% remote work.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $60 – $80 per year (Estimated)
