Role Overview: Hybrid Scrum Master & Business Analyst
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hybrid Scrum Master and Business Analyst to join a dynamic Fintech team in Chicago, IL. This is a critical role designed for a professional who can bridge the gap between technical execution and business strategy. As a dual-function expert, you will be responsible for driving Agile delivery while simultaneously ensuring that business requirements are meticulously gathered, analyzed, and translated into actionable technical specifications. This position is ideal for a candidate with a deep background in financial services who thrives in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
Key Responsibilities and Agile Leadership
- Agile Facilitation: Lead all standard Agile ceremonies, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives. Act as a servant leader to the development team, fostering an environment of transparency and continuous improvement.
- Impediment Management: Proactively identify and remove blockers that hinder team progress. Manage risks and dependencies across multiple workstreams to ensure consistent and predictable delivery cycles.
- Agile Coaching: Guide the team and Product Owners on Agile/Scrum best practices, engineering discipline, and the effective use of Scrum frameworks to maximize value delivery.
- Requirement Engineering: Gather, analyze, and document complex business requirements. Translate these into high-quality user stories with clear acceptance criteria and detailed process flows.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, and Compliance teams to deliver integrated digital solutions that meet regulatory and business standards.
- Fintech Domain Support: Provide subject matter expertise for trading platforms, wealth management systems, and digital onboarding workflows.
- Technical Translation: Convert intricate banking workflows into API-driven, Agile product processes, ensuring technical designs align with business objectives.
- Quality Assurance & UAT: Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), manage backlog refinement sessions, and oversee release readiness to ensure high-quality deployments.
Qualifications and Technical Expertise
The successful candidate will possess 8 to 10 or more years of combined experience as a Scrum Master and Business Analyst, specifically within the Fintech or Financial Services sectors. You must demonstrate a profound understanding of the investment product lifecycle, trade data flows, and banking compliance requirements. Technical proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps is mandatory. We are looking for a leader who understands modern engineering practices such as CI/CD and TDD, and who can facilitate technical discussions between developers and stakeholders. Strong communication and facilitation skills are essential for success in this hybrid role. Preferred certifications include CSM, CBAP, PMI-PBA, or SAFe, which will be viewed as a significant advantage in the selection process.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
