Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Scientist with a strong background in Machine Learning (ML) and Generative AI (GenAI) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for AI innovation and a solid understanding of the insurance domain. This role involves leading GenAI projects, developing advanced ML models, and contributing to the strategic direction of data science initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of data scientists in the development and deployment of ML and GenAI solutions.
- Design, develop, and implement advanced ML models and GenAI frameworks.
- Conduct in-depth statistical analysis and build predictive models using large datasets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI/ML application within the insurance sector.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, ML, and GenAI technologies and apply them to solve business problems.
- Communicate complex findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure the quality, scalability, and performance of data science solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- 10+ years of experience in Machine Learning and Data Science.
- 3+ years of experience leading Generative AI projects, preferably within the insurance or finance industry.
- Expertise in Python and common ML libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Proficiency with GenAI frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph.
- Strong understanding of statistical principles, algorithms, and data structures.
- Experience working with large datasets and data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Deep knowledge of the insurance domain, including concepts like binding authority and actuarial models, is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.

- Programming Languages: Python
- ML Libraries: Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch
- GenAI Frameworks: LangChain, LangGraph
- Data Visualization: Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau
- Databases: Experience with various database technologies
- Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud environments is a plus
Work Model:
This is a hybrid role requiring 4 days onsite per week in Chicago, IL.
