Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Tableau Developer for a critical contract position based onsite in Chicago, Illinois. This role is specifically targeted at local candidates who can work directly with our banking client to transform complex data into actionable insights. In the 2026 financial landscape, data visualization is paramount for monitoring operational efficiency and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will be at the forefront of this effort, creating high-performance dashboards that support key banking operations and senior leadership decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated Tableau dashboards and reports that track banking operations KPIs, SLAs, and regulatory requirements.
- Focus on transaction processing, payments and settlements, loan servicing, reconciliations, and operational risk metrics.
- Build intuitive and high-performance visualizations following industry best practices for usability, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Integrate Tableau with diverse enterprise data sources, including SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, Snowflake, and various data lakes.
- Create and maintain complex data extracts, calculated fields, parameters, and Level of Detail (LOD) expressions to meet specific business needs.
- Partner closely with data engineering teams to ensure data quality, lineage, and the consistency of business definitions across all reports.
- Translate complex operational and regulatory requirements into compliant reporting solutions that align with banking controls and audit standards.
- Ensure all data visualizations adhere to strict data privacy and information security policies.
- Collaborate with Operations, Business Analysts, Risk, Compliance, and Technology teams to gather requirements and present insights to senior leadership.
- Provide ongoing Tableau user support, comprehensive documentation, and knowledge transfer to internal stakeholders.
- Continuously optimize existing dashboards and automate manual reporting processes to improve efficiency.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Primary Expertise: Advanced Tableau dashboard and report development.
- Deep understanding of data visualization best practices and performance tuning.
- Experience with enterprise databases: SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, and Snowflake.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Ability to work with complex datasets and perform advanced data modeling within Tableau.
- Familiarity with banking domain metrics, including risk management and regulatory reporting (e.g., AML, KYC, Basel III/IV).

- Proven track record of delivering high-quality BI solutions in a fast-paced financial services environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical data to non-technical senior executives.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $120,000 – $175,000 per year
