Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and seasoned Senior Java AWS Developer to join our dynamic engineering team in Chicago. This role is designed for a technical leader with over 12 years of professional experience in the software development lifecycle, specifically focusing on high-performance enterprise applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting complex systems that leverage the full power of the AWS ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and implementation of scalable Java-based microservices within an AWS environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Optimize application performance and ensure high availability of enterprise-grade software solutions.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers, conducting thorough code reviews and promoting best practices in software engineering.
- Implement robust CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes and improve development efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the full application stack.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure our tech stack remains modern and competitive.
Technical Requirements
- Extensive experience with Java (versions 11, 17, or 21) and the Spring Boot framework.
- Deep expertise in AWS services including Lambda, S3, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.
- Proven track record of developing RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Strong understanding of database design, both SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
- Familiarity with front-end technologies like Angular or React is a significant plus.
- Solid understanding of security protocols, OAuth2, and JWT for securing enterprise applications.
Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years focused on AWS cloud environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
